Some Possibility of Certain RH Mistakes or Stalled Applications Still Being Fixed by OCD
July 1, 2010
Dear CHAT Members,
Ty Larkins is a state official (Office of Community Development, OCD) for Road Home (RH) issues, who recently greatly helped an applicant who had not yet closed (that makes it easier, I am told to help them) and had a grant stuck with mistakes in calculation and without getting his many calls to RH returned calls.
If you (or your friends, relatives, or neighbors) have not yet closed on your RH grant and think you are eligible OR
If you have:
known mistakes in their calculation of your grant
and did not miss a deadline to appeal (within 90 days after closing)
and did not have your appeal rejected at the level of the State Appeals Board,
I advise you to write to Ty Larkins Ty.Larkins at LA.GOV and cc chatlra at yahoo.com.
Describe briefly in a list
the major points in your grant processing,
what is wrong,
and documentation that you have which is relevant to grant mistakes or delays in processing.
Don’t forget to
cc chatlra at yahoo.com
and put “Request for RH help from Ty Larkin” in the subject of your email
and give your RH grant ID number, phone number, and address.

Subject: RE: Ty: can you please really help these desperate applicants?
Ty,
Can applicants still write to you if they have unresolved mistakes in their grant determination?
Are fixes still possible?
Thanks again,
Melanie
>From Ty, this week
Absolutely! So long as they have not exhausted their rights to appeal to RH, state review panel and/or have not missed their appeal deadlines, I can still help them. Anyone who is eligible and has never gone to any closing as you well know would not have triggered any appeal delays started to run so they are often the easiest to address.
Just keep sending problem cases my way.
Ty
Still posted at the state website is the following:
http://lra.louisiana.gov/index.cfm?md=pagebuilder&tmp=home&pid=106
For many months we have heard of people who believe their Road Home appeal was lost in the shuffle, or that they were never able to exercise their right to appeal because their case was stuck in the "resolutions" process, which ended earlier this year.
In order to ensure that all applicants received fair treatment under the Road Home, the Louisiana Recovery Authority and the Office of Community Development will review these cases to ensure that homeowners received due process under the Road Home and that cases did not fall through the cracks.
For your case to be considered, you can do one of three things:
Email info at louisianarecoveryauthority.org with "Road Home Appeal" in the subject line,
Call us at (225) 342-1700 to find out how to request an appeal or
Mail a letter to the Louisiana Recovery Authority, ATTN: Ty Larkins, 150 Third Street, Suite 200, Baton Rouge, LA, 70801.
Best wishes and have a good fourth of July holiday,
Melanie Ehrlich
